About Us

Adoption Now! is a ministry of Abaana, and is based in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire in the United Kingdom.

Education in Uganda is a privilege, not a right. The majority of the schools there are fee-paying, which means that many children fail to obtain an education and therefore have no chance of finding a decent job when they reach adulthood. The only way that orphans and street-children can receive an education is if someone is willing to pay for them.

Uganda is a developing country and by European standards most people live way below what we consider to be the poverty line. This means that even if a relative is willing to take in an orphan then there is no money available to pay for the child to go to school. This is where Adoption Now! comes in.

Our primary task is to raise funds to provide an education for those most in need - those who have no chance unless we give it to them. We do this by enlisting sponsors either through special events or personal contacts.

Adoption Now! is overseen and administered by Abaana, a charity based in Bangor, Northern Ireland.

The work in Uganda is carried out by Abaana ba Uganda (formerly Adoption Now! (Uganda)), under the direction of Pastor Paddy Luzige. You can read more about the work in Uganda here.

Ralph Gale

Ralph has been with Adoption Now! since it started.
Ralph is a keen motorcyclist - or should we say 'was a keen motorcyclist' because in July 2003 he had a fairly serious accident that has left him with steel pins in his right arm and leg. This is the second motorcycle accident that he has suffered in a year. We pray that this is the last one.
Ralph is currently convalescing and looks forward to resuming work in the near future. He is planning a career change and wants to become a teacher of EFL.

Dave Woodley

Dave joined Adoption Now! in July 2001. He is also the webmaster and publisher for Adoption Now!
Dave is a Senior Project Engineer for a company that makes SCADA systems but he usually just tells people that he works in I.T.
